Asian Gaelic Games 2013 – Press

Match Reports are on the way but here is some of the press coverage to whet your appetite:

Jerome Quinn’s Report from gaa.ie:

More than 700 players on 60 teams played 200 games over the weekend of October 12/13.

The Middle East lifted several pieces of silverware, including the Derek Brady Cup for Senior A men. Qatar were boosted by Donegal All Ireland winner Ryan Bradley and Armagh’s Michael Stevenson.

Shanghai Ladies ended a 4-year winning run by Singapore Lions after a superb Ladies Final.

But it wasn’t just about competition. The Asian Games was a coming together of Irish and non-Irish from across a vast area for a superb weekend of friendship and fun.

‘It was an outstanding fantastic success’, said Asian County Board Chairperson Joe Trolan.

Asian Gaelic Games 2013

In just 1 month, the Asian Gaelic Games will return to Kuala Lumpur for the 2nd year in a row in what promises to be a tournament every bit as good as last years event. We have a new venue, some new teams, plenty of new players, as well as old faces and old rivalries, and probably some new ones too.

On behalf of the whole Orang Éire football club, we would like to thank the organizing committee, all of the volunteers over the weekend, the Bukit Kiara Equestrian and Country Club, the Crowne Plaza hotel (which hosted the opening and closing ceremonies), all of the participating teams, and both our club and tournament sponsors for making the weekend a truly memorable experience.  Read the rest of this entry »
