Asian Gaelic Games 2012 Match Reports

The 2012 Asian Gaelic Games took place in Kuala Lumpur, for the first time ever, over the weekend of the 27th and 28th of October at the Bukit Kiara Equestrian and Country Club. Organized on behalf of the Orang Éire football club by a special committee setup to run the games, everything appeared to run perfectly over the whole weekend.
On behalf of the whole Orang Éire football club, we would like to thank the organizing committee, all of the volunteers over the weekend, the Bukit Kiara Equestrian and Country Club, the Crowne Plaza hotel (which hosted the opening and closing ceremonies), all of the participating teams, and both our club and tournament sponsors for making the weekend a truly memorable experience.  Read the rest of this entry »

Asian Gaelic Games 2012 – Kuala Lumpur

For the first time ever, Kuala Lumpur will be holding the Asian Gaelic Games next weekend on the 27 & 28th of October. This is a free event that will be held at the Bukit Kiara Equestrian and Country Resort. Over 800 athletes, 65 teams from all over the Middle East and Asia, 180 games of Gaelic Football, Hurling & Camogie will be played on 6 pitches. Kids will compete in Gaelic Football at U-14, U-10 & and Juvenile levels.

Healy Macs will be providing pitch side beer and food so please come along and enjoy the games while sipping on a cool beer. Tournament games run from 8am-5pm both days.

2012 Asian Gaelic Games

In a little under 2 months, the Fexco Asian Gaelic Games 2012 will be held in Kuala Lumpur at the Bukit Kiara Equestrian & Country Resort over the 27th & 28th of October. There will be 6 playing fields in use over the weekend, as well as a grand stand, which overlooks 5 of the pitches, with seating for 350 spectators. There will be almost 200 games to be played over the 2 days, including Gaelic Football, Hurling and Camogie and all games will be played at intervals of 25 minutes.

Asian Gaelic Games 2011 – Suwon, South Korea

In the days leading up to the weekend of the 15th and 16th of October 2011, Orang Éire packed their collective bags, and 4 teams headed to South Korea to take part in the 2011 Asian Gaelic Games in Suwon. Below is a summary of each teams experiences at the games from the respective team captains. Congratulations to our ladies A team on winning the ladies Plate for the 2nd year in a row, and to the 3 ladies who won well-deserved All-Star awards – Ciara Quigley, Alexa Trout and Jenn Collins. Photos will be uploaded here in the next few weeks, but you can also check our Facebook page for photos, and check out the official games website for some more photos. Upcoming: International Rules Game 5 & 2011 Asian Gaelic Games

Coming up over the next 3 weeks, Orang Éire are entering the busiest part of their year. First up, Orang Éire will be competing in the final game in the 2011 International Rules series against the KL Warriors. With the score tied at 2 games each, this finale is guaranteed to be explosive. This game is scheduled to kick off on Saturday the 8th of October, with the venue and throw-in time yet to be finalized.

Following swiftly on from this final, Orang Éire will be travelling to Suwon in Korea to compete in the 2011 Asian Gaelic Games on the 15th and 16th of October.
